Kirchschemmbach

A new residential quarter is forming in Bottrop between the Kirchschemmbach and Gladbecker Straße.

The architecture of the quarter is characterised by a materiality and formal language that is oriented towards the adjacent colliery buildings. The characteristic elements of these historic structures have been reinterpreted and adapted to suit the times.

On the ground floor, facing Gladbecker Straße, a garage is being built that not only serves as a parking space but can be flexibly designed for different uses to meet changing needs.

A central element of the project is the planned day-care centre, which is oriented towards the green slag heap in order to meet the growing demand in the community and to offer the children a stimulating environment.

The development of the neighbourhood is gently graded from the road towards the slag heap to provide a charming view of the natural surroundings while ensuring harmonious integration into the landscape.
