Landscape architecture, Stolberg
2020
The new industrial area in Stolberg is based on the building orientation of the historical industrial architecture, which was located in the same place in 1940. This results in a harmonious interplay of the commercial buildings, which defines a new square in its center. This square serves both as a turning point for the suppliers and as the central meeting point for business people and, due to its close proximity to the Zincoli chimney, as an identity feature.
The landscape park becomes the extended museum area of the Zinkhütter Hof by devoting itself to the processing of zinc and brass through four stations. The visitor can follow the historical zinc industry through impressively staged perception rooms and establish an atmospheric relationship to the different levels.
A light installation is provided for the evening setting of the fireplace, which visually enhances the fireplace. A metal ring is installed at a height of thirty meters, which is equipped with LED lamps and illuminates the fireplace in the night sky.
