The new restaurant in Dortmund Romberghöfe will revitalise the old brewery ruins at Rombergpark and preserve the history of the site. This extension of the existing building with catering facilities creates a bridge between past and present. The ancillary rooms, such as the kitchen, toilets and delivery areas, are skilfully integrated into the landscape so that it literally ‘grows’ over the functional rooms and creates a flowing connection with nature. These areas are designed as a sequence of courtyards that create a harmonious transition to the surroundings.

This new Romberghöfe will create a new landmark as the entrance to Rombergpark, visually enhancing the site and providing an inviting entrance. Commercial space is also planned in the immediate vicinity, which will be used as office space, and an architectural bridge will be created to the neighbouring Phoenix West and Wilo Campus development areas.

The façade of the new extension is made of solid concrete, which connects to the demolished existing building and restores the original building volume of the brewery. The result is an architecturally coherent ensemble that respects the historical substance while integrating modern uses for the restaurant in Dortmund.
