Philipp Valente has been a member of Raum NRW since March.
Raum NRW is an association of young architects and is committed to a wide range of goals:
Resource scarcity and climate change will have an increasing impact on our profession, forcing us as architects to find solutions to make our contribution to climate protection. In the future, we will have to scrutinise our way of planning and building more and more!
We want to improve the framework conditions for young, up-and-coming offices and the self-employed. To achieve this, the entry requirements for competitions and VgV procedures (in the state of NRW) must be simplified. We are committed to addressing these shortcomings and improving the advice and information offered by the Chamber in this regard. One of the first motions we put forward at the Assembly of Representatives was to increase the number of staff at the AKNW’s competition counselling service.
The start of an independent professional existence is accompanied by numerous legal and organisational hurdles, some of which have to be overcome before the actual foundation.
A climate-friendly building culture is more important than ever! We see our profession as having a great responsibility to achieve the climate targets that have been set. The Chamber has an important advisory role vis-à-vis the state and federal governments to help them get on the right track professionally in the current situation.
We stand for a diverse job profile! For us, promoting equal opportunities does not just mean fair competition between small and large offices. Every Chamber member should have the same opportunity for professional fulfilment regardless of characteristics such as origin, sexual orientation, age, skin colour or gender. In addition to reducing the gender pay gap that still exists between male and female architects, issues such as the division of care work and the reconciliation of family and career must be addressed more strongly. The state of NRW has a history of migration and the resulting multiculturalism like no other federal state, which should be more strongly emphasised.
