What Matters – Work Presentation JUNGE AKADEMIE
14. March 2022
exhibition
What Matters is both the question and statement of this year’s work exhibition by the JUNGE AKADEMIE in Berlin, the international artist-in-residence programme of the Akademie der Künste.
In an exhibition and a diverse programme in Berlin, 29 fellows from all of the Akademie’s art sections will present sound and video installations, photographs, sculptures, paintings and performances that they developed during their studio residencies in the Hansaviertel in Berlin and at Villa Serpentara in Olevano, Italy.
The exhibition in Berlin deals with questions about the transformation of societies and their expression in the relationship between urban space and landscape. Furthermore, the interrelation between the individual and social orders such as state, religion and economy and reflections on images of the body and history, personal archives and the intertwining of nature, technology and culture are thematised. What counts is artistic testimony, poetic resistance and imagining sustainable futures in the face of global tipping points – whether of a climatic or political nature.
